Governor, CM, Jamir greet people on Christmas

Nagaland governor Nikhil Kumar, chief minister Neiphiu Rio and Maharashtra governor Dr. S.C Jamir have extended Christmas and New Year greetings to all the people of Nagaland. In a message received here Wednesday, the state governor Nikhil Kumar said: “On this holy and joyous occasion we remember fondly Jesus Christ and rededicate ourselves to his teachings of love, harmony and peace.” Stating that Jesus is of special significance to the devoted people of Nagaland, the governor prayed Lord Almighty to bestow His blessings this Christmas on “lovely” state of Nagaland and its “beautiful people” so that they attain their cherished goals. The state chief minister Neiphiu Rio, in his message, underscored the importance of learning to basic lessons from the happening of the first Christmas night. Illustrating the life of Christ, the chief minister said although Jesus was the son of the Almighty God he chose the humblest cow-shed and a lowly manger for his birth. In reference to this Rio called upon all to learn the lesson of humility, which he stated was one of the strongest weapons to win over enemies and make them friends. “Let us admit that we, the Nagas, have lots of pride, and this has stood in the way of true Naga unity. Let us try to shed our pride, and imbibe Christ’s humility during this season,” the chief minister said. He also emphasized on how to shed hatred and anger, and extend good will to all fellow brethrens. “Since God himself has come to us to extend his good-will towards all of us, let us also do that to all our fellow human beings,” Rio stated. In his message, the Maharashtra governor S. C. Jamir said: “The life and teachings of Jesus serve as a beacon for humanity and provide hope and solace to millions of people.” Stating that Christmas was an occasion to celebrate the spirit of caring, sharing and brotherhood, Jamir urged all to rededicate oneself to work for the betterment of poor and under-privileged in the society. Meanwhile, the GOC 3 corps and IGAR (N) have also conveyed Christmas greetings to all the people. In a message, the GOC prayed Almighty to shower His blessings upon Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal and Assam to bring peace, harmony and prosperity to the people. IGAR (N) Maj Gen Sandeep Singh, in his message to the brethren of Nagaland, prayed that all people of Nagaland prosper and have everlasting peace with the dawn of the New Year.
