2 killed in road mishap in Dmu

Two persons including a woman were killed while another two seriously injured in a road mishap near Police check gate, Chumukedima on Saturday at around 5 am. According to police, the Maruti car (U/R) carrying four occupants rolled down some 70 ft below the road into Chathe River. The driver of the ill-fated vehicle identified as Vekuhol of Tenyiphe village, Dimapur and the person sitting beside him identified as Niene Angami (31) of Sovima village, Dimapur died on the spot while the other two occupants were seriously injured, police added. The bodies of the two deceased were later retrieved by the police with the help of the 20th Assam Rifles, S-company and handed over to the relatives after completing necessary formalities. The two injured persons identified as Dohol of Viswesma village under Kohima district and Keoikol were later shifted to Zion hospital for treatment where their condition was stated to be critical. Police recovered some IMFL products inside the ill-fated car. The police have expressed gratitude to the 20th AR s-coy for their help. Meanwhile, on Christmas Eve, altogether about 16 road mishaps occurred in and around Dimapur town. Police however said no major accidents were reported.
