6 arrested in Dimapur

Six persons were arrested by the Dimapur police in separate incidents on Sunday and also rescued two minors. In the first incident, three persons were arrested by police with the help of some public from Blue Hill station area while they were trying to abduct two minors to Manipur who were then rescued after they raised an alarm, at around 9 a.m. Police said the trio was forcing the minors into a taxi bound for Manipur. Police said the minors were brought from Lama Basti on the pretext of buying them new clothes by the main accused identified as one Aliimjat, suspected to be a habitual offender. The other two accused were identified as Anwar Hussein and Jalal Ali. The two rescued minors were identified as Jenny (13) daughter of Dilip Kumar and Sanjay (10) son of Babulal both residents of Lama Basti Dimapur. In a separate incident, police arrested three persons identified as Ameto Awomi, Inakhu Aye both ‘sectional officers’ of the NSCN (K) and one Akato Sumi, while they were allegedly demanding money from a non-local businessman near SD Jain college area here at around 3:30 p.m. After being alerted by the businessman, police laid an trap and apprehended the three accused from the area. The trio were allegedly demanded Rs. 20,000 from the businessman.
