: It was a new lease of cultural life at Shamator on December 28 which marked the dedication of the Lunsoperü Cultural Club after being registered in the Home department of Nagaland. Yanhola, chairman of the club and Narola, General Secretary led the gathering to the origin and aims of the club while acknowledging the helps from various corners of the society. Showba, head GB, Akhum, president YUD, Sholula, president, YWA, Rev. Fr. Francis Yimso and Keoshu, president, AICC Shamator were among those who exhorted the group on the occasion. ‘To preserve the cultural heritage of the Yimchunger tribe in all its fullness,’ was the center of thought on the day. “It is good to see the renewal of effort to uplift the cultural values especially when much of it was condemned and thrown out in the past even by some missionaries in the name of revival,” was the message of an exhortation. Rev. Fr. Yimso said “The upliftment of culture should focus not only the cultural practices and performance but the great values the tribe upheld as its core of tradition”. Special songs, dances, folk songs and a refreshing meal were other contents of the programme.
