Drawing attention to the government advertisement Notice Inviting Tender (NIT) regarding up-gradation work of Mon-Namtola road, the Eastern Nagaland Contractors and Supplier Union (ENCSU) has appealed to the chief engineer PWD (R&B), Kohima to extend the date of submission of tender by one month with effect from January 5 as it was not possible for people from far flung areas and outside the state to meet the deadlines. The ENCSU in a statement issued jointly by its president, A. Neangba Konyak and general secretary, Pongshi Phom also said that the total length of road covering 44.25km for single tender should be divided into four parts and separate tender for each phase should be floated on the same date.Maintaining that the request was based on viability and for effective implementation of the work, the contractors assured to give full co-operation on the condition that the government fulfill their demands. “… otherwise (we) will not agree in any means,” the ENCSU added. Meanwhile, the ENPO has appealed to the chief engineer PWD (R&B) to allot the up-gradation work of Mon-Namtola road to “our own capable candidate” and to divide the work into four parts and extend the submission date of tender documents.
