Youth urged to be free from tentacles of corruption

The 32nd session of Mesulumi youth day- cum- cultural competition was held on December 29 at Mesulumi village local ground with V. Lasuh, member NPCC and regional chairman (NE) confederation of community based organizations of India as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Lasuh called upon the youth to be vigilant and steadfast in building a better society for future generations. Terming the youth as ‘engine of society’ and ‘defence of the village’, he cautioned them against being corrupted by the influence of the ever increasing new political parties. He lauded Mesulumi youth for organizing the event and for being an instrument in keeping the tradition and culture alive. He later donated a sum of Rs 1 Lakh towards the youth fund. Earlier, the presidential address was delivered by Pele Lasu, president, MYS, while short speeches were delivered by Welhipe Chiero, VCC and Veprechu Nuh President, Khuzha Zawe. The inaugural session saw various cultural song and traditional dance performances by the Mesulmi youth. In the second session that followed, competitions were held in folk song and dance and traditional fire making. The Youth Day –cum- Cultural Competition also saw the participation of the units from Dimapur, Pfutsero, Phek, Kohima, and Chizami.
