World AIDS day observed in districts

ABOI: World Aids Day was observed in Aboi, at Community Town Hall, organized by WALO organisation, sponsored by DAPCU, Mon. Delivering the key note address, Phangnon Konyak, chief functionary WALO organisation, stressed on increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. She also called upon all the individuals, communities and political leaders to take action and play a greater role by giving commitments to ensure that universal access was achieved and human rights were protected and global target for HIV/AIDS prevention are met. She also presented the HIV/AIDS scenario 2008-2009 on Nagaland. (Correspondent) PFÜTSERO: Phek District World AIDS Day was observed at Town Hall Pfütsero under the theme ‘Universal Access and Human Rights’. The programme was organised by District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit, Phek and PNP+ Network Pfütsero. The main speakers on the theme at the programme were ADC Pfütsero, Kewekha Mero and Medical Officer, Kikruma, Dr. Kulo. According to an official bulletin, president PNP+ Network Pfütsero and former president PNP+ Pfütsero Mese also shared about their lives and being HIV positive, their work experiences and how to prevent HIV/AIDS amongst the young generation of the society. Special song was presented by Praise team, PTBC and Kedukhro Makhru and friend respectively. Senior students of all schools from Pfütsero town, government officials and youth of the town attended the function. The programme was chaired by DPO, DAPCU Phek. The programme started with invocation prayer by Keduwepe Mero, Associate Pastor CBCPT. CHANGTONGYA: World AIDS Day Observation Programme was held at Grace Society Drop-in-Centre, Changtongya town organized by Grace Society, Changtongya and Akhoya with the theme ‘Universal Access and Human Rights’. The programme was chaired by Apok Jamir, Counsellor, GSC. Speaking on the occasion as the guest of honour Chubawati Chang, SDO (C) reminded all churches and the stake holders of their role and responsibility in spreading awareness programme and urged to support affected persons in whatever way possible. According to an official bulletin, special song was presented by the Youth Department, Changtongya Town Baptist Church. Toshimeren Longkumer, town counsel member, project director, Grace Society, Temjen, and Watsü Unit President, Watila spoke on the occasion. Vote of thanks was delivered by Supongwati, Out Reach Worker and invocation was pronounced by Lanu, Pastor, Akhoya Baptist Church.
