SUKT formed DIMAPUR: Sangtam Village Union Elders Kiphire Town in a meeting held on November 21 formed a new organization Sangtam Union Kiphire Town (SUKT) with the purpose of working for the welfare of the people within Kiphire town. According to a press note the office bearers of SUKT includes, Kevi Sangtam as president, Lithrongpi Sangtam as general secretary, Lisethrong Sangtam as vice president, Throngtsangju Sangtam as assistant general secretary, Chumpise Sangtam as correspondent secretary, Chokimong Sangtam as finance secretary, Chotsathrong Sangtam as key holder, Thsithrongli Sangtam as treasurer and twenty one executive members. Meanwhile, the organization has expressed gratitude to GBs, DBs forum convenor and head GB Kiphire Town, Yangkimong Sangtam for giving approval certificate to SUKT. DSSU mourns DIMAPUR: Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (DSSU) has mourned the demise of Luheshe Chishi, retired teacher and father of union ex-president Toshika and Viketo Chishi on November 27. The union in a condolence note has stated that the decease was a sincere and dedicated person who contributed a lot for the welfare of the students’ community and society. Further, the union has conveyed condolence to the bereaved family members and prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace. NPF 41 A/C Tizit appeals DIMAPUR: NPF 41 A/C Tizit has appealed to all ministers, parliamentary secretaries, advisors, chairmen and MLAs to give opportunities including recommendations, appointments, supply orders and contract works only to the party workers. The unit in a release stated that giving opportunities to other non-NPF party workers would create “great misunderstanding” and would entail “conflicts” among party workers and elected members. The NPF 41 A/C Tizit also said that before giving any opportunities to any person, the consent of the responsible MLA should be sought. 41 A/C Tizit ACC new team DIMAPUR: The 41 A/C Tizit ACC elected its new team for the tenure 2010 to 2013 with Yangyoak Konyak as president and C. Epha Viahum as general secretary. FDA seminar held in Peren DIMAPUR: Forest department under Peren district held a seminar on Forest Development Agency (FDA) on November 26 at divisional forest officer office, Jalukie. Speaking on the occasion, divisional forest officer, T.N. Jamir emphasized on climate change faced by the present generation and urged people to preserve forest for future generation. The seminar was presided over by Imcha, forest ranger, Ngwalwa Range. Interacting with the JFMC village members, he advised them to utilize the sanctioned money transparently. AGMC organizes Christmas carol DIMAPUR: Amazing Grace Music Club (AGMC), Chingai Ward, Mon, under Konyak Baptist Church, Mon organized Christmas carol on December 1 with Wakai Konyak, pastor, Chingai Baptist Fellowship, Mon and Alila Shingwang of Chingai Ward, Mon as speakers. About 100 youth participated in the Christmas carol while transportation was arranged by Yinlong Konyak, Yardmaster, NST, Mon. PGSU (L) freshers’ social MOKOKCHUNG: The XII Varsity Campus Fresher’s Social of the Post Graduate Students’ Union (PGSU), Nagaland University Lumami was held on November 24 at university auditorium Lumami with deputy commissioner Zunheboto Kughato Chishi as chief guest. The program was chaired by Marshitet PGSU (L) president, Vikazhe chishi gave the welcome address, EUNU (L) presented a special song. The Vice Chancellor of NU Prof. K. Kannan exhorted the students with words of encouragements and also highlighted on Lumami becoming the functional headquarters by February next year. PGSU (L) vice president Tsomongthe Sangtam gave the vote of thanks. Minister roads and bridges G. Kaito Aye donated Rs. 1lakh towards the fund and welfare of PGSU (L).
