Ukhrul court refixes trial of murder of SDO

The trial for murder case of , Dr Th Kishan SDO Kasom Khullen in Ukhrul district and two subordinate staff scheduled on Thursday has been postponed till January 16 next year. Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ukhrul had summoned prime accused ‘Lt’Col’ Hopeson Ningshen of the NSCN(I-M) and three others mentioned in the charge sheet by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)to appear in the court. However, when the accused currently lodged in Tihar Jail New Delhi failed to appear, the court issued a fresh summons and refixed the trial for January 16 next year. SDO, Dr Th Kishan and his two subordinate staff, driver Rajen and mandol, Token were murdered by the cadres of the NSCN (IM) under the command of the ‘Lt Col’ Hopeson on February this year. The Manipur government sanctioned the trial of Hopeson Ninghen along with three other co-accused but who are still at large- I Yuhar alias Abo Chibo of Chuinem or Tainem village under Somtal Police Station of Ukhrul district; SK Them Horshang alias Themshang of Apong village under Kamjong police station of Ukhrul district and one Johni whose residence was not known. The state police prayed for more time citing problems in transporting the main accused who is still in Tihar jail. Mention may be made that Ningshen has been lodging in Tihar jail on security ground after he was handed over to the CBI authority at Dimapur by the NSCN(I-M). He was produced in a makeshift court of the CJM, Ukhrul at Imphal Airport where he was transported by a special flight of the Indian Air Force in May this year.
