DDCMPUL records increase of 14.77%

Dimapur District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union Ltd. (DDCMPUL) Friday conducted its 12th annual general meeting at the premises of Central Dairy, Dimapur. Presenting the report of board of directors for the year 2008-09, the DDCMPUL chairman Dr. T. Zeliang highlighted the activities of union and underlined the need to increase the quantity of production. Stating that with increasing purchasing power of consumers, there was large scope for milk industry to grow, the chairman appealed to all its producer-farmers to keep good practice of production of quality raw milk at the same time increase the quantity of production. He advocated that a special effort has to be made to improve the yield of milk per head of cattle through programmes of cross-breeding, better feedstock and adequate health care. “To accelerate the pace of progress in these fields, closer cooperation between the union and producers’ cooperatives is vital,” Dr. T. Zeliang said. He pointed out that during the fiscal year 2008-09 two new societies were organised including Open DCS, New Sociinoma village and Kemevi DCS, Sirhi Angami village taking the total number of societies organized to 47 with membership enrolment of 1870 milk producers under the union. The union chairman also highlighted that the year under report has recorded an increase of 14.77% turnover as compared to the previous year. The major sales contribution came from two products i.e. Lassi and Ice cream which recorded sales improvement of 18.77% and 142% respectively over the previous year. Others who delivered speeches included Nagaland State Dairy Cooperative Federation Ltd. managing director Dr. L.S Moses and Dzevi Dairy Co-operative Society.Ltd. Tenyiphe-I chairman Kelhouwhetuo. While the welcome address was delivered by acting chief executive officer Dr. Mhasizokho the vote of thanks was proposed by manager (P&QC) Ng. Moses.
