Pfütsero councillors to light up streets DIMAPUR: Heads of offices under Pfütsero Sub-Division and Pfütsero Town Council members co-ordination meeting was held at ADC’s office chamber on November 30 under the chairmanship of ADC Pfütsero, Kewekha Mero. According to an official bulletin, in the meeting chairman, Pfütsero Town Council, Dingulo requested members to contribute money for setting up streetlights. The house decided to contribute money for purchasing streetlights and also to beautify the town before Christmas. The members also discussed about the drainage system and traffic problem in the town. DPDB Tuensang meet DIMAPUR: The monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting for Tuensang has been convened on December 9 at 11am at the conference hall of deputy commissioner, Tuensang. Y.L.Jami, deputy commissioner Tuensang has also informed that there would be DPDB meeting cum advance Christmas dinner at 6pm at the official residence of deputy commissioner. Further, S. Heno, parliamentary secretary and DPDB chairman would address the DPDB meeting as well as advance Christmas dinner. All the DPDB members have been requested to attend the meeting and advance Christmas dinner. WAWO condemns murder DIMAPUR: Western Angami Women Organization (WAWO) has condemned the murder of pregnant mother Shonglok and her one and half year old daughter Angep. Organization strongly appealed to the authorities and law enforcing agencies to look into the matter and punish the criminals as per the law of the land. Further, WAWO has extended gratitude to Jotsoma Women Organization for their initiative in recovering the bodies and handing it over to the family members. Kyong pastors’ conference held DIMAPUR: Kyong Baptist Ekhumkho Sangrutsu 49th Pastors’ Conference was held from November 20-22 at Shaki Baptist Church, Wokha district on the theme ‘Be a Role Model Pastor’. Around 1500 people including 700 delegates from 95 churches attended the conference. ANGDA Zbto silver jubilee celebration DIMAPUR: All Nagaland Government Drivers’ Association (ANGDA), Zunheboto unit will be celebrating its silver jubilee on December 10 at Zunheboto Town. Luhevi Jakha, general secretary ANGDA Zunheboto unit has requested all members to attend the celebration and further appealed to all officers to grant leave to their respective drivers to enable them to attend the jubilee celebration. Concert held in Jalukie DIMAPUR: Zeme Baptist Theological Fellowship (ZBTF) under Zeme Baptist Church Council organized concert on the theme ‘Fantasy of grace’ on December 4 at Jalukie Town Baptist Church premises. Concert was organized to raise fund in aid of silver jubilee of ZPTF. The band Power faith blessed the audience with a special appearance of two other groups from Jalukie town. Zeme Baptist Theological Fellowship has extended gratitude to Power faith, Jalukie Town Baptist Church and all well wishers. Ad-hoc town council directives to shops DIMAPUR: The Ad-hoc town council East Dimapur H.Q Purana Bazar has directed all shopkeepers under its jurisdictions to white wash their respective shop and to put CFL bulb outside their shop within December 15. Chairman of Ad-hoc town council Vihoshe Awomi in a notification added that shopkeepers should obtain prior permission to display any advertisement and hoarding under its jurisdiction. Niuland adhoc service extension DIMAPUR: All adhoc employees serving under the establishment of deputy inspector of schools, Niuland have been informed to submit application for extension of service beyond December 31. DIS Niuland Kitoli Naje has informed adhoc employees to submit necessary attested documents including the latest extension order on December 10. CVSU general session-cum-children year DIMAPUR: Changlangshu Village Students’ Union (CVSU) has convened its general session cum children year anniversary on December 27 and 28 at local ground and Changlangshu Baptist Church (CBC). The union has informed that C.L. John Konyak, chairman Marcofed Nagaland and DPDB Mon would be the chief guest and Naiba Konyak, parliamentary secretary Sports, Youth Resource and Land Revenue Nagaland as the guest of honour. Y. Pongba Konyak, president CVSU has requested the union and village council to send five delegates each from Tobu area including village council chairman, VEC chairman, union president and two students to attend the programme. Meanwhile, all the Changlangshu students and committee members staying within and outside the village have been requested to attend the programme. 1 dies in road mishap DIMAPUR: A poultry dealer identified as one Moniruddin Thalkdar (25), resident of Dimapur, died in a road mishap, when the jeep (NL-01C -1714) in which he was traveling lost control and hit the back of a truck (NL-06A-3072) near Amarijan area, Bokajan Assam Saturday at around 5 am. According to Assam police sources, the deceased was proceeding towards Dimapur, when the accident occurred. After conducting postmortem, the body was handed over to the relatives for last rites. (Staff Reporter) NSF reiterates DIMAPUR: Having learnt that the Nagaland University was proposing to allow outside agencies to take up recruitment of staff on the plea that the administration was unable to carry out scrutiny for making appointments, the NSF has said it would not tolerate any move to deviate from reality on recruitment system in the university. The NSF viewed this as an “inefficiency” of the university’s administration. Reiterating its earlier representation on the reservation quota in the university in accordance with the office memorandum from the centre, the NSF also reaffirmed its stand that a fresh advertisement be published in sequence with the reservation quota for schedule tribes in all the vacant posts of the non-teaching staff. Changtongya town councillors to check taxi parking space DIMAPUR: The monthly co-ordination meeting of heads of offices under Changtongya was held on November 27 at Changtongya Town Council office. The meeting was chaired by SDO, Changtongya, Chubawati Chang. According to an official bulletin, the house reviewed the previous meeting minutes and entrusted the Town Council for selecting locations for parking space of Tata Sumos and private buses in the town and to bring the report in the next meeting. Cutting and selling of unhealthy cows in the town was discussed and was decided to entrust Town Council to coordinate with the department for necessary checking. The next meeting has been convened on January 20, 2010 at SDO (C) office. OCC for peaceful environment DIMAPUR: Oriental Colony Council (OCC) has notified all the outsiders not to create any unwanted problems within the colony. A press note issued by Bendang Aier, chairman OCC has informed that anybody found stealing, committing robbery and trading of immoral activities within the colony would be penalized by the council. Further, anyone found selling IMFL and drugs trafficking within the colony would be imposed with a fine of Rs 10,000 and thereafter expelled from the colony. Also, anyone damaging or removal of sign board would be imposed with a fine of Rs. 5000. Meanwhile, the council has appealed to all residents of the colony to extend cooperation for maintaining peace and tranquility within the colony and further cautioned that action would be taken against the defaulter. BSNL road show in Peren, Dimapur DIMAPUR: BSNL Nagaland Telecom will be organizing road shows in Dimapur on December 7 from 8 am to 3pm at Nuton Bosti junction and on December 7 from 8 am to 3 pm at Signal Bosti junction, Dimapur. Further, road show at Peren district will be held on December 5 from 8 am to 3 pm at Telephone Exchange for receiving applications for provision of new land line, WLL, PCOs, GSM (mobile) pre paid and postpaid connections. All citizens from surrounding villages have been requested to avail the opportunity by furnishing a latest passport size color photo; for photo identity, a pan card or driving license or bank account pass book issued by central/state government authorized organization/departments; for address proof, electricity bill or telephone bill or ration card and for address and photo identity proof issued by head GB or chairman of village council. Car burnt in freak accident Correspondent KOHIMA: In a freak accident this evening, a car was found burnt, near Avilie Petrol Bunk, Lower Para Medical area, Kohima. Police personnel, who arrived at the spot, at around 5 p.m., found the car (Maruti 800) abandoned without occupants. Police suspect technical failure could be the cause of the accident. Eye witnesses said there were three occupants in the car, including a woman. However, their whereabouts could not be established till the time of filing this report. The car, suspected to be from Manipur, was later towed away to North Police Station, Kohima.
