Kohima town is facing acute problems of transformer overloading and line faults in many areas resulting in unstable and frequent interruption of power supply. According to Electrical Division Kohima (EDK) power supply was affected due to excessive lighting loads especially for Christmas decoration and usage of room heaters by consumers of Kohima town. To maintain stable and quality power supply the department has urged consumers to refrain from using room heaters, switch off unnecessary room lighting points to compensate add-on decorative Christmas lighting, security lighting and others, to use CFL bulbs and not to draw power beyond the contracted load demand. Department also cautioned power lines would be disconnected failing to adhere to notification. Er. Keviletuo Yiese, executive engineer EDK has appealed to all consumers to cooperate and judiciously use the power.
