The Inquiry Committee set up by the NPF to probe the details of the crisis in Nagaland University has submitted its report after studying the relevant documents and visiting Lumami Campus. According to the report, the Committee’s observation on the findings and recommendation of the Fact Finding Committee (FFC) and Visitor’s directive over the finding showed the violation of University act statutes and ordinances by the V.C Prof. K. Kannan Besides pointing out the displeasure expressed by the Visitor about constant absence of V.C (out of station) for more than 50% of the duration from August 2006 to February 2008, the report also noted that in spite of the Visitor’s directive to shift the University Headquarters to Lumami and V.C’s office, no action plan have been taken so far thus violating the University act. “Hence, a disciplinary proceeding against V.C becomes necessary,” it added. Summarizing its inquiry report, the Committee expressed surprise to note that “a respected personality has become so low or diluted his mind by taking unilateral decision and convincing Executive Council to ratify his actions afterwards.” The report said that the Executive Council was also questionable as to why and how they endorsed all the actions taken by the V.C prior to their approval or consent.
