Governor of Nagaland Nikhil Kumar and chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Saturday sent out Christmas greetings to the people of Nagaland during a pre-Christmas celebration held at the Raj Bhavan. The programme was held under the theme ‘Glory to God in the highest’. Wishing the people a peaceful Christmas, Governor Nikhil Kumar expressed hope that stable peace would usher in Nagaland with the people abiding by the teachings of Jesus Christ. He said the blessings of Jesus, the ‘Prince of Peace’ would usher real peace in the land. Nikhil assured it would be his duty to see that the people abide by the teachings of Jesus Christ not only during the festive season but beyond that to remember and thank Him. He said the people should bear in mind the teachings of Jesus throughout their lives. Chief minister, Neiphiu Rio said it was time for humanity to reconcile, prepare their hearts and make peace for a harmonious world. He said every individual should make peace through Jesus Christ. He also urged all to confess their sins, commit to humanity, work for peace and make the future a brighter one. Christmas sermon was delivered by Rev.L. Malsawma Vanchhawng, Pastor, City Church Kohima, while songs were presented by children from Kohima Orphanage Home, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, Ashuni Lirüna, Zonunmawi, Kohima Ao Baptist Church and Chief secretary’s band. Dr. Joyce Angami read out a scripture, while Phomlee Van, Pastor, Phom Baptist Church Kohima offered the Christmas thanksgiving prayer. The governor and chief minister also led the candle lighting and cake cutting ceremonies. The pre Christmas celebration was attended by minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju, lady wives of the governor and chief minister, legislators and their lady wives and other well wishers.
