Chairman of the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Sanayaima Sunday said that bold assertion of his counterpart arrested chairman of the ULFA Assam, Rajkhowa had inspired not only the people of Assam but the entire people of the north east. In a statement signed by the chairman e-mailed to this correspondent, Sanayaima stated that Rajkhowa’s bold assertion of no to surrender with the Indian government while reaffirming ULFA’s stands not to hold talks with government of India, had given a new surge of inspiration not only to the patriotic people of Assam but the entire patriotic people of the northeast region.” The news report of Rajkhowa’s arrest by the Bangladesh government and subsequent hand-over to the Indian government must have strengthened Bangladesh’s relation with India at government level. However, on the other spectrum, it has also deeply hurt the fraternal sentiments of the patriotic people of the region, the statement asserted. “If we recall the fraternal help and support rendered by the people of Assam to the liberation war of Bangladesh, the wounded feelings and sentiments of the people of Assam would be much deeper. We hope that this feeling would be shared by the people of Bangladesh,” Sanayaima said while reaffirming UNLF’s firm solidarity with ULFA and people of Assam as “fraternal people in arms”.
