Muslims in Manipur Sunday joined the countrywide demonstration demanding implementation of Liberhan Commission on the demolition of Babri Masjid on the 17th anniversary of the demolition of the mosque of 18th century. A sit-in demonstration was carried at Lilong in Thoubal district where maximum number of Muslim settlers took part in the observation of the anniversary as ‘black day’ by Muslim organisations across the country. However there were no reports of celebration of Vijay Diwas or victory day by Hindu organizations. Around 100 Muslims including religious leaders took part in the demonstration which commenced from 10 am and went on till 3 pm. At the protest site, various slogans condemned the demolition of the mosque and punishment to the persons listed in the Liberhan Commission of Enquiry. They also demanded that BJP leader LK Advani and others branded as culprits in the report should be arrested and tried on a fast-track basis. Necessary legal action should be taken up against RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena as they violated the law of the land and caused great harm to the secular image of India, demanded the leaders who participated in the demonstration.
