Government of Nagaland sponsored four women to 5th Creators of Peace International Conference, Sydney 2009 from September 30 to October 4 on the theme ‘Creating a culture of peace –What will it take?’
The Creators of Peace International Conference was attended by 240 women from 30 countries. The delegates were challenged to change attitude and transform the various facets of peace initiation as the conference progressed; to listen to our inner voice as one reflect on stories shared by women from the 30 countries. They were also encouraged on stories of the ‘lost generation’, courage, fortitude, trauma and perseverance; and through meditation, evaluation and commitment made to forgive which led to ‘telling of a new story’, by becoming Creators of Peace Circles.
Meanwhile, participants from Nagaland have acknowledged the support rendered to them through the Capacity Building initiative of the Government of Nagaland for the learning exposure to the international arena of women working for peace and expressed hope for support in coming days to create ‘Circle of Peace’ in Nagaland.
