State ATMA attend national conference in Delhi

Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Kohima comprising of eight farmers from Kohima and Zunheboto mainly Farm School Teachers/ Achiever Farmers led by Temjentola AFA and Wabang Longkümer BTT Convener Jakhama attended the two days 6th National Farmers Conference at New Delhi on December 2 and 3. The conference was organized by Consortium of Indian Farmers association (CIFA) at Mavalankar Hall, Rafi Marg, New Delhi where many important dignitaries consisting of farmers, chief ministers, union ministers and members of parliament deliberated with farmers on various issues. After attending the two days conference, the team also visited the International farm machinery expo on December 4 at IARI and on December 5 the team went for historical sight seeing to Agra. The team thanked G. Ikuto Zhimomi, DAO & PD Agricultural Technology Management Agency Kohima district for organizing the visit and also expressed hope that in future they could avail such kind of exposure visits under Agricultural Technology Management Agency. Meanwhile, a delegation of 20 people, comprising mostly of educated unemployed youth farmers, led by Agriculture Officer and BTT Convenor (ATMA) Dimapur Toivi Swu participated in the 6th National Farmers Conference and International Exhibition which was held at New Delhi from December 2-4. About 3000 farmer delegates from all over the country attended the conference with MP Chandra Babu Naidu was the chief guest. MP Navjot Sidhu, Ajit Singh, Sharad Joshi and Abhijeet of Planning Commission also addressed the conference to draw the attention of the government on issues pertinent to farmers. Apart from a host of technical sessions conducted by MNCs, World Bank and officials from Agricultural Ministry dwelt on the latest scientific technology of farming. Agricultural Technology Management Agency team also visited the 1st International Exhibition on farm machineries organized by Ministry of Agriculture at IARI Pusa, New Delhi, where all kinds of modern agriculture farm machineries were exhibited and was also an eye opener for the delegates. ATMA delegates expressed gratitude to the CIFA of India for inviting them and Co-ordinator NE CIFA Kathi Chishi for his guidance. The team also thanked to Project Director Agricultural Technology Management Agency Dimapur, AMC members for sponsoring the exposure trip.
