Imkong exhorts Japukong students

Home Minister Imkong L Imchen said Nagaland had been very quiet for the past many months as the leaders of the underground groups had heeded to the voice of the people and thereby stopped killing among “Naga brothers”. He therefore, called upon all to continue praying and not to allow any killings in the state. He was speaking at the ongoing 63rd Japukong Students’ Conference (JKM) in Longjemdang village, Mokokchung district on Wednesday. Imchen called upon students of Japukong Students’ Conference to have unity amongst them, adding, unless the society is united it would not move forward. Stating that students had the potential to succeed, Imchen urged students to be steadfast in one’s own commitment to achieve success. The Home Minister also commented that Nagas were “liberal democrat” and lamented “We are very critical”. He also added that people tend to criticize and attack without properly studying the subject which led to disharmony and unity in the society. Earlier in the program, S. Bendang Aier President AKM and Tongpanglepden, President Japukong Senso Senden also gave brief speeches at the program. The program also saw presentation of first ever J.N Aier Trust Award to the meritorious students of the range. Toshinaro Imchen Naga Idol 2008 presented special song while Aonokpu and Nokpu students union presented cultural songs.
