: Minister for PHED, Dr. K Nganshi Ao on Friday reviewed the current state of water supply to Kohima and inspected water treatment plant at Jotsoma and progress of metering system for water supply to the consumers of Kohima.
The minister stressed on the importance of providing clean water and urged the officials to maintain high standards.
Further, he assured to extend all help to the staff in the performance of their duties and asked the staff to be sincere and never to compromise on the quality of water supply as the effects would have huge repercussions.
PHED secretary Zhaleo Rio, called upon the staff to maintain discipline and show professionalism in their duties and cautioned that irresponsible employees would be subjected to strict disciplinary action.
Meanwhile, the Minister also visited some localities in Kohima town, to personally verify and check the progress of water metering system. The Minister instructed the staff to expedite the installation of water meter, so as to promote the interest of the consumers and ensure proper collection of revenue for the government.
The Minister revealed to the officials that he would be inspecting the various works undertaken by the department from time to time and urged the officials to begin the New Year, 2010 with due sincerity and rededicate themselves in the service of the public.
He also appealed to the public to extend co-operation to the department.
The Minister was accompanied by Khetovi Sumi, Chief Engineer PHED and department officials.
