The 8th Convention of Angami Catholic Union (ACU) started on Friday at Chiephobozou, Kohima on then theme “You did not chose me, but I chose you”.
The convention was formally inaugurated Rev Fr Keduolhou George, Principal Holy Cross Higher Secondary, Dimapur through a dedicatory prayer.
Speaking on the theme during the first session, Rev Fr Keduolhou George said that to be called by God is a special gift and in God plans every human being has a purpose, adding through the chosen one of God, blessings come to the family and society/ nation.
He also said that God was waiting for young and old to response to His call and stated we don’t need to fear to say “yes “to God’s call because He will guide, adding “in serving God we never become poor and there is benefit in allowing God to chose us to serve him”.
Addressing the convention, R. Rocus Chasie, 1st general secretary ACU stressed on the need to have gender equality in the society. Further, he emphasised on the need to have work culture and also change in mindset and to cope with the fast changing global scenario. Highlighting the brief history of Catholic in the state, he said Catholic had come to the state 60 years back.
Earlier, the Suosahie Philip, first ACU president lighted the convention candle, while invocation prayer was given by Zavilie Xavier, catechist Chiephobozou welcome address was delivered by Luolhoulie Linus, President ACU, greetings from Khozolie Theodore, President Catholic Union ,chiephobozou, bible reading by Ruokuohe-ii, Roselyn and benediction was offered by Pezachiilie Philip, touring catechist, while the function was chaired by Medozhase, Methodius, Vice president ACU.
On January 17 (Sunday) Very Rev Fr. Neisalhou Carolus Kuotsu, Vicar General Kohima Diocese would preside over the Solemn Eucharist Celebration
Renowned speaker from various walks of life would deliver talks on different topics throughout the convention. The other highlights of the conference include Rosary & confession, Holy Eucharist, cultural programme, thank giving mass and nomination of new office bearers for ACU.
