A little over one week after the fire in Dzükou was brought under control, it is being reported that a fire has started at an area where the State government earlier attempted to set up the “Dzükou Water Project”. According the Jotsoma Village Council (JVC), its volunteers who were sent to check and control the fire had reported that the cause of the fire seemed to be an “intentional doing.” A joint statement issued by the JVC chairman, Visezo Nagi and JYO president, Vilhubilie Peseyie said the area on fire again was “strategic” not only for Jotsoma people but for all those living downstream including the capital town Kohima. Stating that the area was the main reservoir area, it urged for protection of the same by every body. The JVC said everyone was welcome to see and enjoy the nature’s beauty but warned that destruction of the area in any form would be “very disastrous” and that the Village authority would not remain silent in the incident. It condemned the act of causing the fire and appealed to public for greater awareness.
