Man stoned to death

A man, presumably in his 50s, was reportedly stoned to death by unidentified miscreants Sunday night, police said here today. The body was later recovered Monday at around 7 a.m. from Rüziechaphi, under Tsiesema village, 13 kilometers from Kohima. According to police, the victim, reported to be a Nepali, aged between 55-60 , was bludgeoned on the head.The body was taken to Kohima north police station from Chiephobozou police station and later handed over to Gorkha union on Monday evening at around 4:40 p.m. after legal formalities. According to police the post mortem report was awaited. Meanwhile, the Tsiesema Village Youth Organization (TVYO), in a release, has condemned the incident and urged upon the state government to immediately identify and book the culprits responsible. The TVYO also informed that on Saturday, during surprise checking along the Peducha to New Secretariat junction road, it apprehended one truck driver, who was allegedly stealing firewood along the road.
