The four-day youth festival of the Kachari community organized by the Kachari Tribal Council, Nagaland, concluded on Tuesday at Town Hall with MLA & Advisor, Cooperation & Sericulture Azheto Zhimomi as the chief guest. The festival which was based on the theme “Excel for glory” saw a potpourri of both literary and cultural extravaganza.
Speaking at the function, the chief guest stressed on unity, cohesiveness and cooperation among the Kacharis and stated that people would honor and respect them only if they were united. “Don’t think that you belong to a minority community and get disheartened” he further asserted.
Articulating that the festival was for the upliftment of youth, Azheto called upon the youth to not let the festival be and end but a beginning for them. He also exhorted all the participants of various competition not to give up but work towards exploiting their capabilities and caliber. Lauding the efforts of the DAN government, Zhimomi stated that there has been tremendous development since they came into power and at the same time he also pointed that it was the initiatives of the DAN government to turn music into an industry.
Meanwhile, Hanish Mech won the Mr Kachari title while Uma Mech walked away with the Miss Kachari crown. The other highlights of the programme included cultural dance competition, Boro, Dimasa folk and modern songs, English songs, debate, standup comedy, extempore, quiz, hindi songs, hip hop, bollywood dance and beat contest.
