The Müngankhyun Yangdong Suro Südi (MYSS, Citizen Forum of erstwhile Old Mangakhi village), Longkhim sub-division, Tuensang district has unanimously resolved to expel Khumtrongkhyü Sangtam son of Vekiye Sangtam from the village after finding him guilty of peddling banned drugs. MYSS in a press release issued jointly by its president, Tsinghose, vice president Y.Chopise, general secretary Tsalemse and assistant general secretary Tsikhyuse stated that Khumtrongkhyü nor any of his heirs could return to the village and cannot claim their membership from the village. According to MYSS, the decision to expel Khumtrongkhyü was taken after many years of warnings and fines imposed to him. MYSS alleged that due to Khumtrongkhyü’s drug peddling, generations of youth from the village and surrounding villages have either died or their future completely destroyed and many were now into addiction. It also mentioned that Thsingmujanglarü (Women Society) of the village seized 1330 S.P. capsules from his possession on December 30 last year. His drug peddling operations were allegedly aided by his wife and son and the case was submitted by village council to citizens forum in its general meeting held on the January 5 and decision was unanimously resolved in accordance to the Article No.8 of the village constitution. MYSS added that in event of any future violation of laws/regulations by Khumtrongkhyü and his family, the case would not be related to the village in whatsoever manner.
