2 FGN activists held on extortion charge

In a delayed report, police apprehended two FGN activists while they were serving demand note to a trader in Purana Bazaar January 22 at around 11:40 a.m. Acting on a tip-off, that some unidentified persons were serving demand notes, a team of police and IRB personnel rushed to the spot and apprehended two persons identified as one Bokato Zhimomi (32), FGN “finance secretary” and “lieut” Kuhoshe Wotsa (29), police sources said. Police also recovered a demand note of Rs 50 lakh, which was issued to one hardware dealer and a vehicle bearing registration number (NL-03-1682) along with fake registration number NL-07-7175 from their possession. The duo had asked the trader to pay a sum of Rs 20 per cement bag and Rs 200 per quintal of iron rod, police said. According to police, Bokato was arrested earlier September 2, 2009 on same charges but was released on bail. It may be noted a person convicted for extortion can face maximum imprisonment up to three years.
