Drawing attention to news item, regarding rescue of 76 NE boys, reported in local dailies January 26, the Diocese of Kohima today clarified that Bedesta Blessing Home, from where the boys were rescued, was not run by Roman Catholic Missionaries but by one Shaji, who claimed to be a pastor of Pentecostal Church. Explaining that it has verified the matter with Bishop of Palayamkottai (Tamil Nadu), Right Reverend Jude Gerald Paulraj and director of Home for orphans and destitute Reverend Father Joseph Johnson, the Kohima Diocese spokesperson Fr. R. R. Graviour Augustine, in a communiqué, said that Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which raided Bedesta Blessing Home, has requested Catholic Church institution, Saranayalayam, licensed by Tamil Nadu government, to provide shelter to them until they were sent to their respective parents in Assam and Manipur. Also, clarifying on the same issue, Saranalayam director Fr. S. Joseph Johnson, in a separate statement, said children were safe with them and that they would be rehabilitated soon.
