Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Memorial Development Society of Nagaland (NSCBMDS) lamented that nothing had been done to develop the camp of national hero Subhas Chandra Bose in Chesezu village except a resting shed constructed by art and culture department of Nagaland. A press release issued by Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Memorial Development Society of Nagaland general secretary Dupoyi Nyekha stated that Nagas were proud to have assisted Netaji in his journey for the freedom of India at Chesezu village- a place where he took shelter to monitor the battle to defend India. This was also revealed in the film “Netaji with the Nagas” which was released on January 18 wherein Netaji’s personal secretary Lt Col Mamwata Arya and doctor Col Laxmi Singhal talked Netaji’s last camp in India. The general secretary has urged the state/central government to develop a National heritage site at the camp. He also informed that NSCBMDS be contacted at [email protected] or ph 9856243448, 9436000428 and 9436077991. Meanwhile, NSCBMDS observed the 114th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose at Netaji Peak, Chesezu village on January 23. The members along with some “living eye witnesses” had gone to Netaji’s last camp in India (Chesezu) to pay homage to the ‘fierce and fearless leader’ whose contribution to the Indian freedom struggle was unparalleled.
