Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar will inaugurate the two-day North Eastern Region Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (NERCPA) conference, starting from January 28 at the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly here. Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker and deputy speaker, Lok Sabha MP, minister for planning and evaluation, V&AH parliamentary affairs ad secretary and officials of the NLA would be attending the conference, according to an official statement from the assembly. During the conference, NLA speaker will speak on the topic, “The impact of insurgency activities in the Northeast India on socio-economic development and its solution thereof.” Assembly Speakers, including parliamentary secretaries from all the North Eastern States, including Sikkim and West Bengal are expected to attend the meet. The Chairman of Rajya Sabha and other officials are also expected to attend the conference as observers. The Manipur Assembly committee is expected to present a paper on the ground situation of the state relating on the impact of insurgency on the Socio-economic development
