The 61st Republic Day was celebrated in Longleng dist Hq on January 26 with Imkong Imchen, Home minister Nagaland as chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the National flag and took the salute from contingents of DEF, village guards of Yangaching and Yangphang, district scouts and guides and of GHS Nyengching. He also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put by various departments. Other highlights included folk dance by the PPC, Shayuing, Shamkang and Bahok wards,patriotic songs by Hindus and Muslims of Longleng and a football exhibition match played between the GBs XI and Dbs XI , Anti rabies vaccine was also administered by the department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry, Longleng. Tamlu: Along with the rest of the country Republic Day was observed peacefully at Tamlu Sub-Division at SDO (C) premises. T. Wati Aier SDO (C), Tamlu unfurled the tri-colour National Flag and delivered the Republic Day address. General public, government servants and public leaders attended the programme. Aboi: Republic day was observed at Aboi with minister for soil & water conservation and land resources development, P. Longon as the Chief Guest. The Minister unfurled the National Flag and delivered the Republic Day speech. This was followed by the inspection of the parade contingents. Highlights of the programme included cultural show presented by various cultural troupes of Aboi. A display of Martial Arts was presented by the Aboi Students Union. Apart form heads of offices and Government officials, a host of public leaders and the general public attended the celebration. Meluri: Republic Day was celebrated at Meluri Sub-Division with Parliamentary Secretary for Prison, Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services, W. Kithan as the chief guest. The chief guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the parade contingents including the 7th AR, 5th NAP, VGs of Meluri Platoon, Christian Mission School, St. Xavier School and GHS Meluri. The highlights of the day included folk dance by Meluri women folk, traditional games demonstrated by VGs of Meluri of Khumiasu platoon and a special number presented by Menacle Free Band. Later in the evening football exhibition match was played between GHS and Christian Mission School and the 2nd match between 7th AR and Jiason Club. Longkhim: Along with the rest of the country Longkhim ADC headquarter celebrated Republic Day at public ground with Deo Nukhu, Advisor NRE, Art & Culture and Science & Technology as the chief guest. After the ceremonial unfurling of the National Flag and inspection of parade contingents of Sangsomong, Holongba, Angangba village VG and Living Local Ground Longkhim, the chief guest read out the Republic Day speech. Highlights of the programme included cultural dance by Sangvi Club, Longkhim, Angangba VG and Langnyu Shang Club Mangakhi village. Volleyball exhibition match was also played between Cigles Club, Sangsomong and Austere Club, Chimonger village. Thonoknyu: Republic Day was celebrated at SDO (C) office complex, Thonoknyu on 26th January 2010. SDO (C) Thonoknyu, Litrongbila unfurled the National Flag and took the salute and delivered the Republic Day speech. Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Relief & Rehabilitation, Printing & Stationery, S. Heno attended the function. Other highlights of the programme included exhibition match between Thonoknyu TBC Women and Tikhir TBC Women. The programme concluded with beating of retreat by 3 NAP Thonoknyu. Pungro: Republic Day was celebrated at Pungro Sub-Division where National Flag was unfurled by SDO (C) Pungro, John Tsulise Sangtam. He also delivered the Republic Day address. All head of offices, public leaders and public attended the function. Naginimora: Naginimora sub-division celebrated Republic Day at the local ground with parliamentary secretary transport and communication, mechanical engineering P. Dako Phom as the chief guest. He unfurled the national tri colour and took salute from the parade contingents of 6th NAP, United Christian School while Lakjan colony presented cultural dance.
