Even after the Rate control department of the DMC has termed the increase in bread price by Rs 5 as ‘illegal’, consumers in Dimapur continue to buy bread at the increased rate of Rs.20 after the Dimapur Bakeries Association added a hefty 33% increase of Rs.5 on plain bread. DBA president Ato Yepthomi had stated the price increase was necessitated due to the rise in rates of various commodities. The DBA has also increased the price of sweet bread by 29 percent and patties by 25 percent. Rate Control In charge of DMC Vihuto told this Reporter that the DMC had expressed its displeasure to the DBA and informed that a meeting has been convened with DBA in order to review the rates.
