Nagaland cultural troupe excelled in Thailand winning the “Best of First Impression” during the 5th Surin International folklore festival held from January 15-24 in Surin Province, Thailand. The Naga cultural troupe comprised twelve persons from Shena Old Cultural Club Kohima and Dimapur.
Representing India, the Naga cultural troupe was also accompanied by Manipuri troupe. Dr. L. Lunjeswori devi, associate professor, Department of History, Manipur University, gave a presentation on “history of traditional textile industry in Manipur” during the conference.
Altogether, 17 countries comprising of more than 400 artistes participated in the festival. The festival was hosted by Sunrindra Rajabhat University, Surin Province of North East Thailand.
