A forty member contingent from Nagaland participated in the National Youth Festival held in the Land of temples Bhubaneswar from January 8-12 on the theme ‘Celebrating diversity’.
The festival had a huge youth assemblage and provided a platform to showcase talents in various non competitive events for rock bands, talent exhibition, food festivals, painting photography etc. A release issued by Youth Resources Officer, Wokha, K Libemo Jami stated that Helen N Ezung and Mhonyamo Kikon represented Nagaland in elocution and guitar recital respectively while Folk dances were performed by the Peren cultural troupe. The Phek cultural troupe presented folk songs, ‘Off” band from Nagaland took part in the Rock concert and National Service Scheme and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan participated in other events.
Delegates from South Asian countries participated for the first time in the fest and mooted conducting a such an event at the regional level to foster cooperation and understanding among the countries and galvanizing the youth movement in the region.
