In another breakthrough, police personnel of West Police station arrested the kingpin of the serial money snatchers from Bokajan in the wee hours of January 25, according to a delayed report. According to police sources, the accused Jagdish Prasad Shah (29) alias Rocky Yadav, was nabbed after his accomplice Akash Yadav confessed the location of the king pin during preliminary investigation. However it was not before the Akash had misled the police by taking them to Lanka saying that his “boss”, Jagdish Prasad Shah, resided there. It may be mentioned that the accused Akash Yadav was nabbed jointly by the public and police on January 14 at around 3.30 pm near Vijaya bank. Yadav was caught while attempting to use the same modus operandi of distracting would-be victims by throwing some money on the ground then snatching the cash bag from the victims and escaping while their attention was diverted. Further, Akash had also revealed that he along with other two accomplices had snatched a sum of Rs 2, 30,000 from a customer in the same bank on December 31 last. He disclosed that the gang traveled to Dimapur from Lanka, Assam, by Shatabdi Express. Police had also disclosed that the picture of Akash matched that of a person filmed in the CCTV footage in the Axis Bank money snatching case.
