Unhappy over the handling of a case by its mother association as well as the administration over the abduction and subsequent killing of one of its members by unidentified persons recently, the All Nagaland Taxi Association, Kohima and Dimapur units Monday called a flash agitation in Kohima. The local taxi drivers gathered and shouting slogans in the afternoon. It may be mentioned that a local taxi driver, Onik Sangma driver of NL0 1 T-7821(M/van) was found murdered at Viswema village on Saturday and his vehicle missing. Strongly condemning the killing, the All Nagaland Taxi Association Kohima unit requested the district administration take necessary steps to book the culprits and punish them according to the law. On Monday, as a mark of respect to the departed soul, the taxi drivers put black flags on their respective vehicles. Also condemning the incident, the Viswema Youth Organization (VYO) said it was “deeply hurt” for using their land as place for criminal activities. The VYO through a statement asked the law enforcing agencies to thoroughly investigate the case and book the culprits at the earliest. It extended condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Kohima was marred by another agitation called by drivers of regional taxis plying between Kohima and Dimapur. They were agitating over the shifting of the parking lot from New NST area to New Market area. The agitation, however, could not garner much support and cooperation.
