State chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday lauded the Rotary Club of Dimapur for rendering yeoman services to the people of Dimapur area. He appealed the Rotarians to keep up the spirit and continue to serve the society ‘Above Self’ and uphold the theme ‘The Future of Rotary is in our Hands’.
Rio was addressing the members of Rotary Club of Dimapur at a mega picnic organised by the Rotary Club on New Year day at Noune Resort Seithekema – ‘A’ village located in the foothills of Patkai Mountain Range.
While conveying New Year greetings to the people, Rio assured that government would always support the cause of Rotary for serving the people. He also interacted with beneficiaries of ‘Gift of life’ and one of the guardians of the child, thanked the Rotary for a New Life leased to his daughter.
Rtn. Sanjay Kr. Jain, Chairman, Picnic Committee welcomed the chief guest and the audience to the beautiful resort, while Rtn. N.R.C. Nair, President delivered the introductory speech. He emphasized about Rotary and the various humanitarian services carried out by the Rotary Club of Dimapur for the last 38 years.
The main important projects which the club had implemented for the welfare and betterment of the weaker section of the community include Gift of Life, (to provide heart surgery for children below 12 years from reputed heart Institute), Polio Eradication, water management, Literacy, Health & Hunger, Child safety insurance Program for school’s student, Peace & Conflict, GSE and Program for Youth.
Rotary Club of Dimapur is exploring the possibilities of establishing a full fledged Blood Bank in Dimapur with all modern equipments and facilities as a joint venture with the support of matching partners.
Further, Rotary Club of Dimapur and Rotary Family has expressed gratitude to the administration, police department (all ranks), media houses and cable net work, denizens of the Dimapur, well wishers and Donors for their contribution in making this Rotary Picnic 2010 a grand success and also thanked Nibu Nagi the man behind the success of the Rotary Picnic and its activities.
