Angami Public Organization (APO) and Northern Angami Public Organization (NAPO) have condemned the killing of “Sgt. Major” Vesai of NNC/FGN by the NSCN (I-M) activists on January 2 at Kijümetouma under Kohima district. The APO in a joint statement issued by its president Kekhriengulie Linyü and general secretary said the organization had explicitly declared its stand that within its ancestral jurisdiction, no bloodshed and killings by different factions of freedom fighters would be tolerated. It however said that the killing at Kijümetouma could be construed as a “sign of disrespect” to the sentiments of the Angami People as a whole. The APO conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members. Meanwhile, the NAPO has also strongly condemned the killing of “Sgt. Major” Vesai NNC/FGN. A joint statement issued NAPO president Neitso Sogotsu and press secretary Roukuovituo Zatsu stated that the organization had met leaders of both factions prior to the incident at Kijümetouma and had been assured of no untoward incidents. It said the assurance had been negated by the NSCN (I-M) activists and that the NAPO was ‘deeply hurt by the disrespect shown to the organization.’ It extended condolences to the bereaved family members.
