The 9th general conference of Sakipheto Area Students’ Union (SASU) started on January 4 at Sukhaphuto village under the theme “Introspection of social reformation”.
On the second day of the three-day programme, retired district statistical officer, Dimapur Kihovi Kiba graced the function as chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest said every individual in this world had a purpose in life and one must accordingly fulfill that purpose. He also said students should willingly learn and listen to attain good education and urged them to have aim in life and strife towards success with determination.
He also reminded the students to understand the problems of their parents and adjust their lifestyle accordingly. Pointing out that world was not a bed of roses, chief guest encouraged the students to work hard and be sincere to succeed in life.
Further, chief guest also donated Rs. 40,000 towards the union and Rs. 10,000 towards the cultural groups.
Cultural and sports competition was also held on the occasion.
Earlier at the programme, invocation prayer was said by Kivukhu Assumi, pastor Hekheshe Baptist Church, Medziphema Sumi Students’ Union presented special number. President Highway Area Sumi Students’ Union, Puloto along with his colleagues attended the programme.
The inaugural function on January 4 was held with Bitoli Aye, lecturer, Discipleship Bible College as speaker who spoke on the theme of the conference. Head GB of the host village, Kupuhe Yeptho welcomed all the delegates while Piwoto Chishi, pastor Sukhaphuto Baptist Church said the inaugural prayer and Sakipheto Students’ Union presented cultural song.
