Unions condemn destruction of Kachari monuments

The Kachari Rajbari Preservation Committee (KRPC), the All Nagaland Kachari Students’ Union (ANKSU), the Mech Kachari Youth Front (MKYF), the Dimasa Youth Organization Nagaland (DYON), Garo Students’ Union Nagaland Zone (GSUNZ) and Minority Forum 3 Dimapur III have strongly condemned the act where some unknown persons destroyed the main gate of the ancient Kachari ruins at Rajbari, Walford Dimapur while trying to pluck honeycomb. In a press note jointly issued by the organizations have expressed concern over the security of the monuments of historical importance and also have raised question on the role played by Archeological Survey of India (ASI) in providing required protection to the monuments. Further, unions expressed pain over the fact that visitors and the people have no sentiment or respect for the historical monuments. Meanwhile, the organizations have strongly appealed to the district administration and law enforcing agencies to take strong measures to book the people involved in damaging the monument and to provide necessary protection to all the important historical monuments.
