Seminar on consumer rights

Tuensang District Voluntary Organization (TDVCO) along with Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) is jointly organizing a seminar-cum public rally on the theme ‘ Consumers are to be protected’ on January 16 in Tuensang town. The chief guest for the occasion would be deputy commissioner Tuensang who is also the Chairman of Tuensang District Consumer Protection Council and Kezhokhoto Savi, Advocate and president of NVCO. The seminar is sponsored by the government of Nagaland under the chief minister’s Corpus Fund. The NVCO along with district level voluntary consumer organization has declared 2010 as year of consumer protection and would be launching a state wide consumer education program with the message “It is the need of the day to know your rights and responsibilities for your own welfare and for the development of a vibrant and stable economy.” The objective of the state and district Consumer protection council is to protect the rights of the consumer from exploitation under the Consumer Protection Act 1986 from trade and industry.
