Medical Superintendent, Dimapur District Hospital, Dr. Sukhato A. Sema on Saturday dedicated the newly-constructed Kitami village ground to the youth of the area to promote healthy competition in the filed of sports.
While inaugurating the playground, Dr. Sukhato called for maintaining peaceful and healthy atmosphere among the neighbouring villages so as to usher in all forms of progress. He also underlined the need of maintaining traditional bond of kinship shared by the neighbouring villages.
Exhorting the gathering, he called upon the youth to work hard, have determination, maintain self-discipline and professionalism and make use of the facility to excel in sports not only in the area, district or state level but also at the national and international levels.
Terming the new playground as an asset to the village, he acknowledged the collective effort of Kitami villagers residing in different parts of the state and the state government for bringing about this project to the village. The playground was constructed under the NREGA scheme.
On behalf of the village, Dr. Sukhato also expressed gratitude to the GBs, pastors, leaders and elders of all the five neighbouring villages for their support and cooperation by participating in the dedication and inaugural programme.
He further thanked the representatives of the Gideon Ministry International who participated in the programme and for distributing free Bibles to the gathering.
The chief guest and his lady wife also donated a handsome amount towards the village council for maintenance of the ground and infrastructure. He also donated free blankets for GBs and DBs of the area and assistance in the form of cash to 56 elderly persons of the village.
