Screening of KCP (MC)-Lallumba faction begins

Screening of cadres of KCP (MC)-Lallumba faction who agreed to surrender en-masse during a tripartite talk with central and state government started Tuesday at the parade ground of the 1st Manipur Rifles ground. Mention may be made that on January 8, leaders of the KCP (MC)-Lallumba (Hitendra) group in a tripartite talk with the central and state government representatives agreed to surrender en-masse to the government and enjoy the rehabilitation package offered by both the governments. The tripartite talk held between the central and state government along with KCP (MC) Lallumba at the banquet hall of the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles, Imphal was attended by the Director of MHA-NE-1, Dr MC Meghanadhan as Central government representative, while the Manipur government was represented by additional chief secretary, PC Lawmkunga and IGP (intelligence), LM Khoute IPS. Among others, leadership of KCP (MC) Lallumba agreed on payment of sum of Rs 4000 per month to each of the registered cadres of the KCP (MC) group surrendered to the government and stay at the rehabilitation centre located at Jiribam sub-division. On Tuesday screening to 160 cadres of the group who has been maintaining ceasefire with the government forces since the start of the negotiation in November 2008 was conducted at the parade ground of the 1st Battalion Manipur Rifles ground, stated official sources. Officials of state police department, officials of intelligence establishments of both state and central governments took part in the screening, sources added. In the recently concluded tripartite talk, it was agreed that another rounds of talk would be held in February after the screening of cadres was completed.
