Kekhawakhrie Peli No-8 turns 50 years

Coinciding with Angami’s premier Sekrenyi festival, the three-day golden jubilee of the Kekhawakhrie Peli No-8 of Pfuchatsumia Khel, Kohima village started on Friday at Nariikizou P. Khel, Kohima village. Land Resources Department (LRD) Director Neise Mechiilho graced the day one as chief guest and exhorted the gathering and also extended greetings on the occasion of Sekrenyi festival. He lauded Kekhawakhrie Peli No-8 for preserving and promoting rich traditional cultures, songs and human values by spreading down to younger generation. He also enlightened the gathering on the need to preserve the rich traditional cultural and practices. The traditional ‘Kiahe Riitso’ also formed part of the jubilee celebration where in the men and women folks of Kekhawakhrie Peli No-8 presented various traditional folk songs. As part of the jubilee, the Kekhawakhrie Peli No-8 also paid rich tribute to their members who passed away over the years. The day two celebration will start on Saturday at 9.30 am and continue till 3.00pm. On Sunday the Kekhawakhrie Peli No-8 of Pfuchatsumia Khel would be hosting the jubilee feast.
