Body of drowned student recovered

The body of one of the two students of a local school, who drowned on Sunday, was today found floating in the Brahmaputra at Kharghuli area of the city, reports ANI. Police said the body was first spotted by local people this morning, very close to Chunsali area where the drowning incident had occurred. The body was fished out and family of the victim rushed to identify it. The body was identified as that of Simanta Saurav Gayan by his family members and has been taken for post-mortem. Earlier, Simanta and Sahidur, both class IX students of Gurukul Grammar Senior Secondary School, drowned in the Brahmaputra when they reportedly slipped into water while on a picnic with five other boys. They had gone for the picnic without informing at home and had also indulged in drinking.
