11 wards in Mon to check anti-social elements
DIMAPUR: Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) Mon has organized 11 wards Sheko (Women) Union in Mon town to control anti-social activities and to keep the clean. The eleven wards include, Walo, Shamnyu, Zaklom, Tanlao,Wagem, Techahan, Jahjon, Chingai, Shantham, Tompang, Thamnan, KNSK also appreciates Wagem Ward Women Union for cleaning and burning of garbage on 4th Feb., 2010 and Walo Ward Women Union for seizing and destroying 37 cases of rum, 7 cases of beer and 120 kgs of rice beer. Further, KNSK has felicitated Shongna Konyak, daughter of Chinge Konyak of Wanching village on receiving certificate of appreciation for academic excellence from Prime Minister of India on the occasion of Republic Day and on achieving topper in M.A. Political Science from Nagaland University.
YTC plea to Power deptt Shamator
TUENSANG: Yimchunger Tribal Council on Friday appealed to power Department Shamator for completion of 33 KV Power station at Shamator, which was lying defunct. Yimchunger Tribal Council in a release issued by Chairman Executive Council and Working President YTC, Yanba Showuba and Kiu’s Chuba, appealed the power department to complete and inaugurate it early for the larger interest of the public. Yimchunger Tribal Council also stated that, owing to power failure, public in the areas have been facing untold inconveniences.
DIMAPUR: A three year old girl child identified as Neha was found at Rangapahar, Dimapur near the Shivratri festival celebration area. According to the police the child is fair in completion and wearing a yellow dress. The girl is under the protection of Sub-Urban police station, Dimapur.
KOHIMA: Police personnel from Khuzama Police seized around 100 Kgs of contraband Ganja from an Alto car and arrested one person in this connection Friday morning. According to police, a surprise mobile checking party on Khuzama bypass road via TB Hospital detected the contraband from an Alto NL-01C-5137 between 8.30 am to 9 am and arrested the driver identified as one Sani Mao (43) hailing from Rabunamei village under Senapati district.
CSC cleanliness drive
DIMAPUR: Cosmopolitan School, Chumukedima (CSC) organized a cleanliness drive on February 9. The programme was led by James, head teacher CSC and participated by teachers and students of the school. Further, Pele Dozo, provided drinking water with a voluntary contribution of rupees two hundred to working students.
Meet on tobacco control
DIMAPUR: A consultative meeting of district level committee on tobacco control has been convened on February 16, 1p.m. in the office chamber of Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
All members including Superintendent of Police, Kohima, DPRO, Kohima, Drug & Food Inspector Director Kekhrie Foundation, Principal, Kohima College and Kohima Municipal Council, Chairman have been informed to attend the meeting.
