AR renovates Zhuikhu GPS building

In continuation of its projects aimed at enhancing the educational infrastructure in rural areas, the 20 Assam Rifles under 5 Sector, IGAR (N) Saturday presented a renovated government primary school building to Zhuikhu village, Medziphema sub-division. Speaking at the inaugural function as chief guest, the 5 Sector AR commander Brig Ved Prakash lauded villagers for joining hands with them in completing the project. The Brigadier urged villagers that no child should be deprived of education as they were the future. He also opined that education was the key to socio economic empowerment. Further, Brig Ved Prakash urged the youth to actively participate in the progress and development of the district. 5 Sector AR commander also stated that they were prepared to add value to the life of the rural people in whatever way possible. Addressing welcome address, Zhuikhu village council chairman Dr. Kakheto Zhimomi lauded Assam Rifles for rendering their yeoman service to the village by renovating the school building. While recalling that earlier the school building was like a cow shed, the VC chairman said, however, with the untiring efforts of Assam Rifles officers and jawans the school building now stood magnificent. He also said that Assam Rifles were putting all efforts to provide secure future of rural populace by reaching out to remote areas. The VC chairman further appealed to the AR authority to further extend assistance in the future as well. Meanwhile, village GB Phuhoto, delivering vote of thanks expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles officers, jawans particularly 5 Sector AR commander Birg Ved Prakash and 20 AR commandant Col. Neeraj for their assistance. The renovation of building, carried out under Military Civic Action (MCA) project, took a record time of two months for completion. Besides renovating school building, the Assam Rifles also added facilities including construction of 6000 litre water tank, electrification, wooden tables and chairs on the request of locals there. Highlights of the function included Sumi folk song by Zhuikhu village women group, presentation of special song by school students, felicitation of 5 Sector AR commander Brig Ved Prakash and 20 AR commandant Col. Neeraj.
