DMC kick starts development projects

In continuation of the year 2009, as year of development initiated by the government of Nagaland, the Dimapur Municipal Council on Sunday inaugurated a stretch of black topped road about half a kilometer leading towards the main Masjid, prayer ground, near DDSC stadium, Ghorapatti, the first of the various developmental projects to be inaugurated this week. The road stretch was jointly inaugurated by DMC chairperson Khekaho Assumi and Dimapur Muslim Council president A. Habnnandabadar, in presence of DMC members, Thungchanthung Lotha, Lipok Pongen, Vihoto, Yangertoshi including members of Muslim community and residents of the colony. Speaking at the occasion, DMC chairperson said that it had been a long felt of the people of the area as in rainy seasons, it used to be flooded with water and residents find it hard to commute, which her said the civic body had fulfilled the need of the colony to some extend. He said despite the meager funds available in DMC ex-checker; something had to be done to the pitiable roads in various wards of Dimapur town. Khekaho Assumi further added that construction of more footpaths, drainages, waiting sheds; road black toppings were going on in different wards within its jurisdiction and the inauguration for this developmental works initiated by DMC would be carried out in during this week before the DMC tenure ends February 21. Muslim Council of Dimapur president, A. Habnnandabadar said DMC had fulfilled the long felt need of Muslim community of Dimapur as it was the main Masjid, prayer ground for the Muslim community of the area and for the residents of the colony. While lauding the work undertaken by the DMC especially the chairperson, the president MCD said that the community would stand by him even in his future endeavors. Later, a short thanksgiving service was held near the main Masjid, prayer ground, wherein the Muslim community members thanked the almighty for granting blessing to the colony and to the community.
