A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday between the stated government represented by Zhaleo Rio, IAS, Secretary PHED and the village Councils of Mima and Kezoma villages, the water source owners, in presence of state Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, minister for PHE, Dr. Ngangshi K. Ao, MLAs Dr Nicky Kire and Er Vikho-o Yhoshu as well as senior government officials, chairmen of both Mima and Kezoma villages, land owners and GBs for implementation of the project – augmentation of water supply to Kohima town from Zaru stream ( Dzuu river).
In a release issued by CCDU, executive director, Er. Kevisekho Kruse, the project has been taken up on priority basis for providing 32.4 million litres per day for feeding a population of 2, 40,000.
He also added that shortage problem in Kohima town would be lessened once the project was completed.
Chief minister, Neiphiu Rio thanked the leaders of both the villages for generously agreeing to provide water resources for Kohima town and also directed the department in-charge to start the process immediately for facilitating early implementation of the project.
