Sanitation a must for good health, says AWO

Campaign on awareness of sanitation was held at Tenyiphe 1 and Sovima villages under Chakhroma areas under Dimapur District on Saturday. The campaign was organized by the Chakhroma Women Organization as part of the ongoing Angami Women Organization program to cover all villages of Angami areas with sanitation campaign supported by the CCDU of PHE Department. Advisor to AWO, Kevinourheno Seyie and resource persons at Tenyiphe 1 village said that many especially children were dying everyday in the country due to diseases caused by consumption of unclean water and unsanitary conditions and added that sanitation was a “must” if good community health was to be ensured. She also stressed on the connection between unsanitary conditions and diseases, need of making of household toilets, hand washing after defecation and before meals, Nirmal Gram Puraskar – the government of India award for clean and fully sanitized villages and facilities available with our government, etc. A total of 6 villages have been covered with Sanitation Campaign through CWO under Chakhroma area under this AWO’s program.
