Nagaland home minister, Imkong L. Imchen Tuesday said he has no doubt on the integrity of prime minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, union home minister, P. Chidambaram and union home secretary, G. K. Pillai as far as the Naga political issue was concerned. Imchen told NEPS on Tuesday that the three leaders were sincere towards finding solution to the protracted Naga political issue. He said these central leaders were making concerted efforts to solve the longstanding Naga political issue. “Besides they are old hands on various issues including ours (Naga issue),” he said. Imchen urged the Naga people not to miss the opportunity to find solution to their problem when they had such leaders at the Centre. He said the Nagas should also sincerely work to frame a “Common agenda” to be the basis for political negotiation with the government of India as there cannot be separate solutions for each group. “There can be only one solution once and for all,” he asserted adding, “I don’t think the Government of India will go for separate settlements with each group.” He said everyone should contribute to the wisdom of the Naga national workers in order to frame a comprehensive “common agenda.” Imchen refused to comment on Muivah’s statement that participation by non-mandated groups in the talks for settlement of the issue would only dilute what has been achieved in the talks so far. He, however, said that the government of India was interested to settle the issue once and for all. “But not for separate settlements with separate groups,” he added. On the upcoming talks between the government of India and the NSCN (I-M) in April, Imchen said “only I can say is one has to be optimistic.”
